Tattoo Aftercare

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your new tattoo.

  • Gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap twice a day.

  • Pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or cloth. Do not rub or scrub.

  • Apply a thin layer of ointment to your tattoo, such as Aquaphor or A+D ointment. Avoid using petroleum jelly, as it can trap bacteria.

  • Keep your tattoo covered with a clean bandage or gauze for the first 24-48 hours. After that, you can leave your tattoo uncovered to allow it to breathe.

  • Avoid soaking your tattoo in water for at least 2 weeks. This includes swimming, bathing, and hot tubs.

  • Avoid wearing tight clothing over your tattoo, as it can irritate the skin and prevent healing.

  • Do not pick or scratch your tattoo. This can damage the skin and lead to infection.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Take cool showers instead of hot baths.

  • Apply sunscreen to your tattoo with an SPF of 30 or higher whenever you go outside.

  • Avoid getting your tattoo overexposed to the sun.

  • Eat a healthy diet and get enough sleep to promote healing.

If you notice any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge, contact your doctor immediately.
